SSR is a major international peer-reviewed research conference focusing on the intersection of cybersecurity and standards.
Springer Verlag publishes the conference proceedings in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
Conference Overview
The Security Standardisation Research (SSR) Conference brings together researchers, practitioners, industry experts, and standards bodies to discuss advances in cybersecurity standardization and emerging security technologies.
In the past two decades, cybersecurity standards have advanced significantly, and many have become widely used. Despite their widespread use, it remains essential to continually revise existing standards and develop new standards to address emerging domains such as post-quantum cryptography, fully homomorphic encryption, 6G, and artificial intelligence.
SSR provides a forum for research challenges arising from the study of existing standards, the development of revisions to those standards, and the exploration of new areas of standardization. The conference also addresses the importance of transparency in standards development, including the scientific and unbiased selection of security techniques for standardization.
Scope
SSR covers the full spectrum of research on security standardisation, including cryptographic techniques, security management, security evaluation criteria, security policy, network security, privacy and identity management, smart cards and RFID tags, biometrics, security modules, and industry-specific security standards.
These include standards produced by the payments, telecommunications, and computing industries for areas such as payment protocols, mobile telephony, and trusted computing.
SSR 2026
SSR 2026 is the 11th iteration of the SSR conference series, launched in 2014. The conference will be held December 13–15, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, hosted by the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
The conference will also host a co-located Protocol Analysis Workshop and Post-Quantum Cryptography for Block Chains Workshop on December 13, 2026.
